There are two bin stores at Redwood House, one in the west end car park and one just outside the east end car park, adjoining the NHS Therapy Centre. The east bin store is accessible via a keypad code, which you can get from any of the Directors.
Bins are emptied on a weekly rota system (currently on Fridays) and both bin stores have information notices, which should help you familiarise yourself with what goes into the various bins.
Green-topped bins are for recyclable items such as uncontaminated paper, plastic and tins. Please make sure items are free from food waste and that plastic bottles, tins and cardboard boxes are flattened.
Large cardboard boxes should be completely flattened and slid between the bins or flattened and put vertically inside at the side.
Brown-topped bins are for food waste only, which should be put into compostable bags or wrapped securely in multiple layers of a newspaper. No wooden Charlie Bigham trays please!
There are two small wheelie bins for glass bottles and jars, which should be rinsed before putting them in the bin.
The remaining large bins are for general household waste, which will go to landfill. However, if good recycling practice is followed, this type of waste should be minimal.
You should take all waste not mentioned above to Dorchester Recycling Centre at St George’s Road (Tel. 01305 221040) or call Dorset Reclaim on 01305 267 711 / http://dorsetreclaim.org.uk/collections/
